Stork's Nest Child Academy, founded and owned by Barbara Izzo, has a rich history rooted in a deep passion for early childhood education. Barbara began her journey in the field in 1986, attending the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) to earn credits in Early Childhood Education. Shortly thereafter, she started a home daycare for six children with her mother assisting as an aide, marking the beginning of her career in childcare.

As Barbara gained experience, she expanded her vision by opening a childcare center with a business partner, they named the center Precious Moments. Over time, she recognized the opportunity to build a more expansive and dedicated childcare model. She took a significant step by opening the first Stork's Nest location in East Greenwich, where it flourished for several years.

Barbara’s dedication to the business and the families she served led her to expand further, opening additional Stork's Nest locations in Lincoln and Warwick, Rhode Island. After several successful years, she transitioned the Lincoln location to Smithfield, and the original East Greenwich location was moved to a new facility in the current East Greenwich area, allowing the school to continue growing and improving its services.

Over the course of four decades in the field, Barbara has not only established herself as a leader in early childhood education but has also built a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for making a difference in the lives of children and families. Today, Barbara enjoys running Stork's Nest with the help of her daughter and granddaughter, ensuring that the family's commitment to nurturing young minds continues for generations to come.
